The United States, India, Saudi Arabia and the European Union signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the sidelines of the G20 Summit on September 9, 2023, announcing the construction of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). This ambitious "modern spice Road" is seen by foreign media as an attempt to counter China's Belt and Road Initiative, but some analysts believe that it may not achieve this goal.
