[Germany will install a record amount of renewable energy in 2023] German solar and wind installations hit a record high in 2023, the industry association said, but only photovoltaic power generation met the government's target and is expected to continue growing this year. Germany aims to meet 80 percent of its electricity needs from renewable sources by 2030, up from 52 percent in 2023. Thanks to booming demand for residential solar, Germany installed more than 1 million new solar power systems last year, generating 14 gigawatts, up 85 percent year-on-year and on track to meet Berlin's 2030 target, the Solar Energy Association said on Tuesday. The residential sector installed about 7 GW of capacity, up 135% year on year, accounting for about half of the total installed capacity. BSW added that about 31 percent, or 4.3 GW, came from solar parks, a 40 percent increase from 2022. BSW expects demand to grow further this year, citing a survey that shows more than 1.5 million homeowners plan to install solar systems on their roofs. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
