On the afternoon of January 10, 2024, the sun in Beijing shone on the golden roof of the Great Hall of the People, where an important state visit was held.  The meeting between the leaders of the two countries not only affirms the friendly relations between China and Malaysia, but also looks forward to the future cooperation prospects.

 President Muiz spoke highly of this, saying that the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge not only connects different regions of the Maldives geographically and facilitates personnel exchanges, but more importantly, it promotes economic activities and injects new vitality into the economic development of the Maldives.

President Muiz said: "These Belt and Road cooperation projects have not only brought great changes to the Maldives at the material level, but also inspired our national pride and confidence in national development at the spiritual level. They have had a significant impact on the Maldives economically and socially and have laid a solid foundation for our future development."

In addition, the two leaders also exchanged views on issues of common concern. The two sides agreed that it is in their common interests to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea and carry out practical maritime cooperation. The two sides will continue to properly manage differences and steadily advance maritime cooperation through dialogue and consultation in accordance with the framework of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) and the Code of Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (COC).
