As the country's first comprehensive energy revolution reform pilot, Shanxi has continued to promote clean and low-carbon energy transformation in recent years, further promoted the optimization of energy supply structure, and accelerated the construction of a new power system. Since the "14th Five-Year Plan", the province's scenic new energy installed capacity has grown at an average annual rate of 14.98%.

Data show that as of the end of January 2024, Shanxi scenery new energy installed capacity reached 50.93 million kilowatts, accounting for 38.18% of the province's total installed power generation capacity, of which wind power installed 25.03 million kilowatts, solar installed 25.9 million kilowatts.

In order to promote the consumption of new energy, Shanxi Electric Power accelerated the pace of the layout of new energy collection stations, and planned the construction of 12 500 kV and 4 220 kV new energy collection stations during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period to enhance the capacity of new energy connection. At present, three new energy collection stations of 500 kV Xinrong, Shuozhou Minghai Lake expansion and 220 kV Pingyou have been put into operation.

At the same time, Shanxi Electric Power deepens the application of new energy cloud with technical means to improve the service efficiency of the whole process of new energy; Create a strong convection weather wind power accurate prediction model, and constantly improve the accuracy of new energy prediction. Since the full application of this model in July 2023, the prediction accuracy of wind power output under strong convective weather has reached 95.5%, which is 2.3% higher than the conventional forecast.

In addition, Shanxi continues to increase the proportion of new energy power in Shanxi power transmission. In 2023, Shanxi's annual exported electricity reached a new high, reaching 157.6 billion KWH, an increase of 7.67%, of which Shanxi's new energy exported electricity of 9.586 billion KWH, an increase of 14.95%.
