On February 27, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration issued the Guiding Opinions on Strengthening the Capacity Building of Power Grid peaking Energy Storage and intelligent Scheduling. The opinions put forward: the capacity building of power grid peak regulation, energy storage and intelligent scheduling is the main measure to improve the regulation capacity of power system.

By 2027, the regulation capacity of the power system will be significantly improved, pumped storage power stations will be put into operation at more than 80 million kilowatts, demand side response capacity will reach more than 5% of the maximum load, a policy system to ensure the market-oriented development of new energy storage will be basically completed, and an intelligent scheduling system adapted to the new power system will gradually take shape. We will support the proportion of new energy generation in the country to reach more than 20% and keep the utilization rate of new energy at a reasonable level.

In 2023, the power generation of wind power and solar power in China will be 885.8 billion KWH and 583.3 billion KWH, accounting for 9.5% and 6.3%, respectively.
