On March 3, 2024, with the pace of spring approaching, members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference living in Shandong embarked on the journey to Beijing for the conference. Among them, the concerned member Shi Ganping prepared five proposals, covering a number of important topics, such as jointly building the Belt and Road, scientific and technological innovation, and exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.

In an interview with the New Yellow River reporter, Shi Ganping revealed the core content of one of the proposals. He suggested that we should give full play to the unique role of overseas Chinese and implement a series of small but beautiful projects to benefit the people in countries participating in the construction of the Belt and Road. These projects are not only modest in scale, but also directly benefit local people and improve their quality of life.

Shi Ganping stressed that China has invested a lot of capital and technical support in the Belt and Road Initiative, which has played a positive role in promoting the economic and social development of countries along the route. However, he believes that friendship between nations lies in amity among the people, and amity between the people lies in the connection of hearts. Therefore, he suggested that in the next decade, China should carry out more such small but American projects in countries that cooperate with the Belt and Road, so that local people can directly feel the practical benefits brought by the cooperation, thereby enhancing the sense of friendship and identity with China.

The proposal not only reflects Shi Ganping's deep understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative, but also shows the great importance he attaches to exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.
