In the vast Gobi Desert of Delingha, Qinghai, an extreme breakthrough about "chasing the light" is unfolding. When foreign technical standards frequently fail in extremely cold and windy conditions, engineers at CGN no longer blindly believe in "foreign teaching plans", but instead choose to carve out an independent path with a precision of 0.01 millimeters on the barren land at minus 20 degrees Celsius.

The world's largest opening has been launched

China General Nuclear Power Corporation successfully verified the world's largest 8.6-meter molten salt trough collector in Qinghai. Faced with the dilemma of no drawings and no processes, the R&D team spent a year and a half conquering core technologies such as high-precision surface shape detection, completely breaking away from dependence on foreign standards, and firmly grasping the initiative of photothermal conversion efficiency and cost control.

Smart Brain Implantation Power Station

Based on the foundation of nuclear power technology, CGN will transplant its independent DCS control system to the solar thermal field, achieving "one click start stop" and automatic inspection of 100 parameters. Combined with the independently developed on-site control system and sun tracking algorithm, each heliostat has an independent "GPS", which can stably output clean base load power even in complex weather conditions, greatly improving the intelligence level of the power station.

Shage Wilderness Lights Up the Country

From the first demonstration power station in Delingha to the megawatt integrated base, and then to the Wumatang project in Xizang, the highest elevation in the world, CGN is extending its mature experience to the whole country. With the introduction of the first provincial-level solar thermal special policy in Qinghai in March 2026, this technology is becoming a key lever to leverage the construction of the Shage Wilderness Base and achieve the target of 15 million kilowatts of installed capacity by 2030.Editor/Gao Xue
