The hydrogen coal co firing technology independently developed by China has recently achieved a milestone progress - the first large-scale co firing test of 50% green hydrogen has been completed, and stable combustion of 100% pure hydrogen has been successfully achieved. This marks a crucial step for China in the field of clean low-carbon coal co firing.

This technology adopts a completely independently developed hydrogen coal mixed combustion low nitrogen burner, which constructs a full process safety protection system covering hydrogen transportation, furnace mixing, and stable combustion, achieving efficient synergistic combustion of hydrogen and coal powder in the boiler. On the experimental device, the calorific value ratio of hydrogen mixed combustion reaches 50%. This means that if green hydrogen is used, both coal consumption and carbon emissions can be reduced by 50%, while the generation of nitrogen oxides is effectively suppressed.

China has the world's largest coal-fired power generation capacity, and the green and low-carbon transformation of the coal-fired power industry has significant practical significance for achieving the dual carbon goals. This achievement has explored a highly potential technological path for China's coal-fired power units to achieve significant carbon reduction in the future, and has a profound impact on promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of coal-fired power and promoting the integrated development of coal-fired power and new energy.Editor/Cheng Liting
