[Tarim River officially enters flood season] On June 9, 2026, the Tarim River, the longest inland river in China, experienced its first flood of 2026 on the edge of the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang. This flood will comprehensively replenish the water and soil resources along the line, nourish the Populus euphratica forests and desert vegetation on both sides of the Tarim River, effectively improve the soil moisture of farmland along the line, and replenish the regional groundwater reserves.
