In 2026, it will be the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, as well as the 70th anniversary of the opening of diplomatic relations between China and Arab countries. At this historical juncture, the name of Egyptian sinologist Mohsen Farjani was once again mentioned. This scholar, who translated the Analects, Book of Songs, and Strategies of War into Arabic, has devoted decades of dedicated research to writing the deepest footnotes of China Egypt friendship.

Since the the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward more than a decade ago, China Egypt cooperation has moved from economy and trade to humanities, from project implementation to people to people. Farjani is the epitome and promoter of this process. His translation is not only a language conversion, but also a practice of mutual learning among civilizations. More than 30 Egyptian universities have opened Chinese majors or Chinese courses, and he has cultivated a number of young talents, who are active in various fields of China Egypt cooperation, and become the most vivid humanistic ties under the framework of the the Belt and Road.

In 2016, Farjani was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award for China Arab Friendship, an honor that reflects a scholar's long-term commitment to both civilizations. In his view, the foundation of the the Belt and Road is not steel and cement, but people's hearts. From the sinology lecture hall in Alexandria to the Chinese classroom at Cairo University, he brought Chinese wisdom into the eyes of Egyptian youth in Arabic and helped Egypt understand China's development logic.

The 70 year diplomatic journey has proven that true and lasting cooperation stems from mutual understanding. Farjani spent his entire life translating books to illustrate that cultural bridges are stronger than any infrastructure.Editor/Cheng Liting
