[China's largest fusion reactor superconducting magnet successfully developed] On June 27, 2026, the artificial solar project of the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Hefei Institute of Material Sciences made the latest progress. Two sets of key superconducting magnets for fusion reactors, including the toroidal field superconducting magnet and the high-temperature superconducting center solenoid coil, have successively completed the development acceptance and full parameter testing. The core technology has achieved 100% localization, and the comprehensive performance has jumped to the forefront of the world. The magnet is 21 meters long, 12 meters wide, and 3.3 meters high, with a total weight of 582 tons. Its volume is 1.3 times that of the International Thermonuclear Reactor (ITER) TF magnet, and its energy storage capacity is three times that of it. It is currently the largest superconducting magnet for fusion reactors in the world.Editor/Gong Ziwei
