On April 24, 2023, the 750 kV Yuka to Tosu II transmission line in Qinghai completed a 24-hour trial operation and officially put into operation. At this point, the power grid structure will be further strengthened, the reliability and safety of power supply will be enhanced, and the large-scale development and high-level consumption of new energy in Qinghai will be assisted.

Previously, the 750 kV main network in the east and west of Qinghai was a double loop chain structure of Xining Riyue Mountain Haixi Qaidam. With the rapid and high-quality development of Qinghai's new energy industry, the Qinghai power grid has entered a transitional period of large-scale access to new energy and accelerated formation of ultra-high voltage transmission terminals. In order to meet the demand for resource development and external transmission of renewable energy bases in Haixi and Hainan, State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company has optimized the power grid structure and planned to build a 750 kV main grid with a shape of 8 in the western region and a shape of day in the eastern region within Qinghai Province.

Chen Yun, Director of State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Development Department, introduced that from 2020 to 2022, a 750 kV Haixi Tara double circuit line and a 750 kV Tosu transmission and transformation project were built and put into operation in the Haixi region. At the same time, the 750 kV Yuka switching station was expanded and upgraded to a hub substation. The 750 kV Yuka to Tuosu dual circuit line project is the completion project of the 8-shaped ring network in the western region.

To ensure that the project is completed and put into operation on schedule, State Grid Qinghai Electric Power has concentrated its backbone forces, formed a professional team for construction, acceptance, and operation, and strictly controlled the quality of equipment processes. The company's regulation and other related disciplines have conducted thousands of simulation analyses to identify key characteristic quantities that affect the stability level of the power grid, and conducted typical clustering extraction on tens of thousands of operation data of Haixi Power Grid.

At present, the State Grid Qinghai Electric Power focuses on the major project of tackling key problems with advantageous resources, orderly promotes the construction of 750 kV Riyue Mountain Dujuan double circuit line project, 750 kV Kunlun Mountain power transmission and transformation project, 750 kV Hongqi power transmission and transformation project and new energy supporting projects, further promotes the upgrading of Qinghai power grid, and serves the grid connection of new energy projects in the Shagehuang base in Qinghai.
