On December 28, 2023, along the Yudong River in Gaokeng Village, Rongshan Town, Lizhou District, Guangyuan City, with the first shovel of soil excavated by an excavator, the construction of the Yudong River Reservoir project in Lizhou District, Guangyuan City officially began.

It is understood that the Yudong River Reservoir project is a key water source project determined by the provincial party committee and government, and has been included in the provincial "14th Five Year Plan" for water safety assurance. As an important livelihood project, the total investment of this project is 765 million yuan, with a designed total storage capacity of 28.4 million cubic meters and a Xingli storage capacity of 24.12 million cubic meters. It consists of two parts: a reservoir hub and an irrigation area project, involving five townships in Lizhou District, including Rongshan Town, Dashi Town, Dongba Street, Xuefeng Street, and Yuanba Town in Zhaohua District.

The project is expected to complete the main construction by 2028 and be put into operation by 2029. After the completion of the project, it will mainly be used for comprehensive utilization of agricultural irrigation, urban-rural water supply, etc. It will achieve the integration of urban-rural water supply, effectively ensuring irrigation of 51900 acres of arable land and production and living water for 123700 people.
