On February 17, 2024, the construction of the Zhangjiagang Northern Medical Center project began with a total investment of approximately 3.2 billion yuan.

The project covers an area of 158.8 acres with a total construction area of 290000 square meters and will be constructed in three phases. The first phase of the project, which mainly includes the medical comprehensive building, inpatient building, infection building, and related supporting facilities, has a construction area of 188500 square meters and a planned bed capacity of 1200. It is planned to be completed and delivered by December 2027.

Zhangjiagang Urban Investment Group will adhere to the overall goal of building a modern traditional Chinese medicine medical center with traditional Chinese medicine characteristics, Suzhou garden style, and Jiangnan culture. It will focus on simplicity and practicality, and from the perspective of doctors and patients, committed to building the project into a modern comprehensive medical center that integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, rehabilitation, and preventive health care.

In recent years, Zhangjiagang has insisted on prioritizing the development of people's health. The construction of the Northern Medical Center project is a key measure for the port city to promote the expansion, improvement, and balanced layout of high-quality medical resources.
