Under the witness of the Pamir Plateau, a green transformation from waste to energy is quietly brewing. On May 29, 2026, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, the Environmental Protection Committee of Tajikistan, and executives from China's Wangneng Environment sat together and reached a substantive cooperation intention on the municipal waste power plant project in the capital city of Dushanbe, marking a solid step forward in the cooperation between China and Tajikistan in the field of green energy.

Technology going global to solve environmental problems

Faced with the insufficient municipal solid waste treatment capacity in Tajikistan and the environmental pressure brought by traditional landfill methods, China's mature solid waste power generation technology has become the key to solving the problem. Wangneng Environment will rely on its profound accumulation in the field of waste incineration power generation to introduce advanced waste to energy conversion models to the local area, convert the waste that troubles the city into clean electricity, and achieve a win-win situation between environmental governance and technological upgrading.

Fill in the gaps and activate development momentum

This project directly addresses the pain points of local power supply shortage and outdated infrastructure. By establishing a solid waste treatment system throughout the entire chain, not only can the waste stock be significantly reduced, but the power supply shortage in Dushanbe can also be effectively alleviated. This model, which combines ecological and economic benefits, is highly in line with the urgent need for modernization of Tajikistan's infrastructure and will create a large number of employment opportunities for the local area. Deeply cultivate Central Asia and expand the green energy landscape

This collaboration is not only another fruitful result of bilateral cooperation between China and Tajikistan, but also a vivid reflection of Chinese enterprises' deep cultivation of the green market in Central Asia. By outputting technical standards and operational experience, China is supporting regional sustainable development with practical actions. As the project progresses, the cooperation between the two parties will extend from single engineering construction to deep level energy structure optimization, further consolidating the strategic partnership between China and Tajikistan in the field of green economy.Editor/Gao Xue
