Recently, a long whistle pierced through the morning mist of Rizhao Port, and a train carrying 110 TEUs of foreign trade goods slowly departed from the port area, heading straight for Kazakhstan through Alashankou. The opening of this new channel has once again accelerated the logistics link between ports in eastern China and the hinterland of Central Asia.

New channel connects east-west logistics

On June 15, 2026, Shandong Port Logistics Group officially opened the "Qingdao Port Rizhao Port Central Asia" cross-border logistics channel. By optimizing the organizational model through joint efforts with customs, railways, and other units, efficient connection between branch ships, port loading and unloading, and railway transportation can be achieved, greatly reducing transit time for seamless transfer of goods from ports to trains.

Multi modal transportation reduces costs and increases efficiency

The business team implements full process control over key links such as ship arrival, container transfer, and railway grouping, and coordinates resources in advance to ensure smooth operations. Shandong Port has significantly improved its cross-border transportation capacity by strengthening the collaboration between Qingdao Port, Rizhao Port, and Central Asia freight train operators to efficiently complete inspection, packing, re inspection, and data declaration. Port transformation supply chain hub

Shandong ports continue to improve their international logistics network, and since 2026, new West African routes have been opened and Central Asian trains have been strengthened. The opening of this new channel marks the transformation of coastal ports from traditional loading and unloading nodes to supply chain organization platforms, providing more stable logistics support for China's economic and trade cooperation with Central Asia.Editor/Gao Xue
