On June 11, 2023, the Bayan Oilfield constructed by Huabei Oilfield in the Hetao Basin achieved a daily oil production of 2780 tons, embarking on an annual crude oil production line of 1 million tons. At this point, Bayan Oilfield will also become the first million ton oil field in western Inner Mongolia.

The Hetao Basin, located on the outskirts of the Ordos Basin in western Inner Mongolia, has been regarded as a difficult bone to gnaw due to the difficulty of exploration for many years. Since entering this area in the second half of 2017, the North China Oilfield has been continuously striving based on the exploration and research of predecessors, relying on high-level technology to become independent and strong, leveraging the advantages of fault basin exploration technology and refined exploration experience, continuously innovating exploration theories and technologies, and launching the battle for oil exploration in the Hetao New Area.

Since 2018, high-yield wells were drilled in the Jilantai structural belt in the central and western parts of the basin, opening the door for exploration breakthroughs in the basin. The North China Oilfield has selected the exploration direction and identified the Xinglong structural belt in the Linhe Depression in the northern part of the basin as an important potential area. In 2020, both the risk exploration well Linhua 1 and the key pre exploration well Xinghua 1 achieved high oil flow, opening up a new situation for oil and gas exploration in the northern part of Linhe Depression. From 2021 to 2022, we will accelerate the integrated exploration of high-quality resources. More than 10 exploration wells with a depth of more than 5000 meters will be deployed in Xinghua Block. The maximum daily production of single well and single layer oil testing is close to 300 cubic meters. The integration of exploration and development is advancing rapidly. Exploration in the new area has created a new speed of oil exploration that has turned over 100 million tons of Proven reserves for two consecutive years.

The favorable exploration target layer in the northern part of the Hetao Basin is at a depth of over 4000 meters. Huabei Oilfield has persistently carried out technological breakthroughs, overcome the technical difficulties of high-quality 3D seismic data acquisition and processing, and achieved a major breakthrough in 6000 meter ultra deep oil and gas exploration. The effective reservoir depth has been explored from shallow to 6000 meter deep, and the deepest well, Hetan 101, has been drilled to 7125 meter and completed smoothly.

Huabei Oilfield has continued to explore oil and gas accumulation theories and key exploration technologies. The research has revealed the mechanism of early maturity and early expulsion of algal Source rock in inland saline lakes, solved the exploration problems of ultra deep Clastic rock in China's continental fault basin, and found the deepest continental Clastic rock scale packaged oilfield in China.
