On July 31, 2023, the completion acceptance meeting of Liyuan Hydropower Station in the middle reaches of Jinsha River of Yunnan Province of China Huadian Corporation was successfully held in Kunming. The acceptance committee unanimously believes that the Liyuan Hydropower Station has been completed in accordance with the approved design plan and scale, and has achieved functions such as power generation and flood control, and has officially passed the acceptance. This marks that Liyuan Hydropower Station will become the first large-scale hydropower station in the mainstream of Jinsha River and Yunnan Province to pass the project completion acceptance, and also the first large-scale hydropower station in China Huadian to pass the project completion acceptance.

Liyuan Hydropower Station is the third stage power station of "one reservoir and eight levels" planned in the Hydropower Planning Report of the Middle Reach of Jinsha River approved by the State Council（ Ι） Type I hydropower station is one of the key projects planned during the 11th Five Year Plan period of the country, and also one of the backbone power sources for the country's "West East Power Transmission".

Overview of the main power house units of Liyuan Hydropower Station

The project was prepared in August 2007 and all units were put into operation for power generation in August 2016. The total installed capacity of the power station is 2.4 million kilowatts. As of July 31st, the power plant has been operating safely for 3145 consecutive days, generating approximately 77.7 billion kilowatt hours of electricity. Adhering to the concept of creating high-quality projects, the power station has built the first concrete face rockfill dam on the main stream of Jinsha River. For many years, the seepage flow of the dam body has been stable below 10L/s, with excellent anti-seepage performance, which is the best of its kind. The total investment of the approved budget estimate is 19.5 billion yuan, the implementation of the budget estimate saves more than 10%, and the economic indicators are excellent. It has won the National Quality Project Award, the China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award, the China Power Quality Project Award, the national first-class enterprise meeting the safety production standards and other honors.
