On August 29, 2023, the UK Department of Energy Security and Net Zero Emissions issued a statement saying that as part of the £700 million (about $900 million) financing, the government has released a further £341 million (about $430 million) in funding for the proposed Sizewell C nuclear power project. The funds will be used for construction preparation, parts procurement and human resource expansion.

The UK government and EDF Energy, which each hold a 50% stake in the Sedgwell C project, have said they will make a final investment decision by the end of the current parliament in January 2025.

According to the plan, two EPR units are proposed to be built at the Sizewell C nuclear power plant, based on the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant. The current value of the 50% stake in Sizewell C nuclear power plant is £870 million (about $1.1 billion). Editor/Xu Shengpeng
