On September 6-8, 2023, Xinhua Power Generation held a review meeting for the pre feasibility study report of the Xinjiang Hotan Karakash Pumped Storage Power Station project. The meeting believed that the content and depth of the report were basically in line with the specifications and work requirements of the pre feasibility study stage, and basically agreed to the report content.

The Xinjiang Hotan Karakash Pumped Storage Power Station project is a planned reserve project in the "Medium and Long Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage Energy (2021-2035)" issued by the National Energy Administration. The total installed capacity of the project is 1.4 million kilowatts, with a designed annual power generation of 2.561 billion kilowatt hours and a designed annual pumping capacity of 3.484 billion kilowatt hours.

After the completion of the project, it mainly serves the consumption of new energy, undertaking tasks such as peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, phase modulation, and emergency backup. It is of great significance for increasing local taxes, improving infrastructure, stimulating employment, assisting rural revitalization, and promoting rapid and stable economic and social development.
