Since the the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward ten years ago, Guizhou has continuously deepened foreign cooperation in southwest China, expanding from trade to production and manufacturing, and its "international circle of friends" has also been expanding to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. In order to better demonstrate Guizhou's contribution to the joint construction of the the Belt and Road, Tianyan News and Xianfeng Network jointly launched a series of reports on the the Belt and Road of Qianhang, introducing the leapfrog development of Guizhou in infrastructure construction, manufacturing development, agricultural characteristics, and how Guizhou contributes to the joint construction of the the Belt and Road.

Completed Uda Section 3

Located in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia at 48 degrees north latitude and 107 degrees east longitude, Jiang Chengde, the Mongolian project manager of Guizhou Highway Group's Eighth Engineering Company, has just completed the handover and acceptance of the CW1-3 contract section of the Ulaanbaatar Darhan Road Reconstruction Project. He is currently busy with the material sorting work for the new project.

The CW1-3 contract section of the Ulaanbaatar Darhan Road Reconstruction Project has a total length of 45.74 kilometers and mainly includes engineering projects such as subgrade, culvert, pavement, and traffic safety Jiang Chengde said, "Since the official start of construction, the brave soldiers of Guizhou Highway Group have carried forward the spirit of hard work and have overcome the challenges of epidemic prevention and control, lack of equipment and materials, language barriers, high and low temperatures, etc. They completed the main construction of Uda Section 3 in July 2021, and the entire project was only fully accepted in 2023

Uda Bid 3 Project Site

Wuda Highway is the first overseas project undertaken by Guizhou Highway Group. This project is a milestone for the Group to respond to the the Belt and Road Initiative and successfully develop overseas markets. It is the main channel between Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, and Darhan, the second largest city. The terminal of Darhan is the key transportation hub between Mongolia and Russia's ports, and the only way for China to reach Russia's Lake Baikal region. The total length of this project is about 180 kilometers. After completion, it will greatly improve the transportation environment of Mongolia and further promote the interconnection between China, Mongolia, and Russia, which is of great historical significance.

Jiang Chengde stated that building roads on the vast grasslands of Mongolia has reduced the technical difficulty by several levels compared to opening roads and building bridges in the steep mountains of Guizhou. However, overseas projects require continuous exploration and experimentation, and various challenges emerge endlessly. For example, the roadbed and pavement engineering requires 300000 cubic meters of crushed stone, sand, and 50000 tons of asphalt, and requires the use of large-scale construction equipment such as 3000 asphalt mixer, 600 water stabilized mixer, and 1000 crushed stone machine. However, Mongolia does not have these large machinery to complete these tasks.

Faced with this challenge, Jiang Chengde came up with a solution: to import these equipment from China and Guizhou. He contacted Guizhou Highway Group to transport the required large construction equipment from China to Mongolia. The transportation and installation of these equipment require time and resources, but they can ultimately successfully complete road construction and contribute to the development of Mongolia.

Jiang Chengde further introduced that after repeated comparisons and calculations, they ultimately chose to use the company's own equipment to transport the necessary key equipment for construction from Guiyang to the construction site in Mongolia. When entering the site, there was not even a single stone, and there was no electricity, water, or accommodation facilities. Due to Mongolia's location in mid to high latitudes and long winters, there are frequent blizzards from October to April of the following year, making it unsuitable for construction. Therefore, in order to seize the favorable construction conditions of long days and short nights in the spring and summer seasons, all personnel agreed to extend the working hours after consultation. The mixing station starts mixing at 6 a.m. and stops at 8 p.m; The construction site starts working at 6:30 am and ends at 10 pm, working for 15 hours a day. By developing a construction standardization system that is in line with the actual situation of the project, strengthening technological innovation, and solving construction technical difficulties, the Uda 3 elevation quality engineering project constructed by Guizhou Highway Group has received high recognition from customers, as well as recognition from political figures such as the then Prime Minister of Mongolia and colleagues. It has established a new image of Guizhou's transportation "iron army" in the field of overseas transportation infrastructure construction.

Thanks to the strength of the Uda 3 bid, the company has undertaken a second project in Mongolia - the new road project from Tawentolgai to Chagandele Mountain border port.

After continuous refinement, the infrastructure construction team in Guizhou has achieved a considerable level of technical and engineering quality system construction. Guizhou's infrastructure has great potential to go global. Jiang Chengde said that Guizhou Highway Group will continue to seize the opportunity of the the Belt and Road, give full play to its core technical advantages and excellent management ability, continue to strengthen strategic cooperation, improve the information, resources, funds, talents, management sharing mechanism, and take Guizhou's infrastructure technology to the world. In other words, Guizhou Highway Group will actively expand its overseas markets and promote the development and internationalization of Guizhou's infrastructure technology by leveraging its own technological and management advantages.
