On November 24, Sinopec Zhenhai Base 1.5 million tons/year ethylene and downstream high-end new material industry cluster project started in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. Ma Yongsheng, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of Sinopec, and Yi Lianhong, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress attended the commencement ceremony and started the project. It is understood that the project is a key project of Sinopec's chain extension and chain reinforcement. At the same time, it is also an important support project for Zhejiang Province to implement three "No. 1 projects" and Ningbo to build "six cities". It takes ethylene rich gas, ethane rich gas, saturated liquefied gas, hydrogenated C5 and straight-run light/heavy naphtha provided by Zhenhai Refining and Chemical production base as the main raw materials, and expands the ethylene and downstream new material process plant by 1.5 million tons/year on the basis of the existing scale of Zhenhai Refining and Chemical. After the completion, Zhenhai Refining and Chemical will form a number of open Yangtze River Delta, especially around the Hangzhou Bay area downstream new energy vehicles, high-end equipment, photovoltaic, home appliances of the characteristic industrial chain, and will help it to become the most competitive refining and chemical integration enterprises in China. Through this expansion project, Sinopec's ethylene territory will also be further expanded.

Sinopec's complete set of million-ton ethylene technology created an efficient cracking process for complex raw materials with special-shaped furnace tubes as the core; A new high-efficiency separation process with fractionating column and distribution separation as the core was initiated. First irradiation reduction industrial catalyst preparation technology, created a full range of high-performance catalysts; It took the lead in realizing the "creation in China" of million-ton ethylene major equipment and the green and efficient production process.

Sinopec's ethylene territory will also continue to expand. In recent years, Sinopec's large ethylene projects have started one after another or entered the stage of EIA publicity.
