Since becoming Uganda's Ambassador to China, Oliver Waneka has been committed to understanding China's development model and experience. She made field visits to the development of many places in China, among which she was impressed by Guizhou's achievements in green poverty reduction road and infrastructure construction.
In Ambassador Waneka's view, China's successful experience in the field of poverty alleviation is of great significance to Uganda. As a developing country, Uganda is facing the challenges of poverty and economic development, and China's poverty alleviation model provides a feasible solution for Uganda.
"China has achieved remarkable economic growth over the past few decades, especially in poverty alleviation and infrastructure development," said Ambassador Waneka, "Guizhou's development experience shows how poverty reduction and economic growth can be achieved in a sustainable way." Uganda can learn from this model and combine it with the actual situation of the country to promote economic development and improve people's living standards."
In addition to its poverty alleviation experience, China's achievements in infrastructure construction have also caught Waneka's attention. She believes that strengthening infrastructure is one of the key factors driving Uganda's economic development. China's technology and experience in the field of infrastructure construction can provide strong support for Uganda.
At present, China and Uganda have signed a number of economic and technical cooperation agreements covering a wide range of fields. Among them, infrastructure cooperation projects have become the focus of cooperation between the two sides. The Karuma Hydropower Station is one of the representative cooperation projects between China and Uganda in the field of infrastructure, which will provide clean energy for Uganda and promote local economic development.
"The Karuma hydropower project is an important milestone that will not only provide Uganda with renewable energy, but also create jobs and boost the local economy," Ambassador Waneka said. "We look forward to further strengthening our cooperation with China to bring more infrastructure projects to the ground and lay a solid foundation for Uganda's future development."
In general, Ambassador Oliver Waneka believes that China's development experience has provided valuable lessons for Uganda. By strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of economic and technical cooperation, Uganda is expected to make greater progress in poverty reduction, infrastructure construction and socio-economic development.
