From the 2024 Shanghai Transportation Work Conference held on February 29, it was learned that this year, a number of major transportation projects will be completed, including the Shanghai-Suzhou Lake Railway, the airport liaison line (Hongqiao Station - Pudong Airport Station section), the west extension of Line 17, the east section of the North Cross Passage, the Yindu Road across the River, and the Jungong Road elevated main line.

2024 continues to be a big year for transportation construction. It is reported that Shanghai will deepen the connectivity of transportation infrastructure, build a "Yangtze River Delta on the track", continue to promote the construction of Shanghai Section of the second phase of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway, Shanghai section of the Shanghai-Chongqing high-speed railway, promote the construction of Shanghai Demonstration Zone Line, Jiamin Line, Nanhui Branch Line, Nanfeng Line and other urban railway projects, and complete the construction of Shanghai-Suzhou Lake railway and airport liaison line (Hongqiao Station - Pudong Airport Station section). Strengthen the cross-regional connectivity of transport network infrastructure standards, and establish a mechanism for promoting the Yangtze River Delta intercity (city) railway integration operation project.

In the construction of major transportation projects, the construction of the eastern section of the first phase of Line 20 will start. We will promote the construction of 15 248km rail transit projects, including the Chongming Line, Line 19, Line 21 and Line 23. Major projects such as the west extension of Line 17, the east section of the North Cross Passage, the Yindu Road crossing the river, and the Jungong Road Elevated main line have been completed. Construction of the Baoshan high-speed railway Station, the Songjiang South Railway Station, and the Qingpu and Fengxian hubs will begin.

At the same time, Shanghai will improve the quality of transportation infrastructure, focus on commuter ray corridors, and implement 100 congestion point improvement projects. Completed 1 million square meters of sidewalk quality improvement projects, 100 quality roads and 16 quality areas, and completed 100 bus stops suitable for aging transformation. We will upgrade 300 kilometers of rural roads.

It is understood that this year, Shanghai will vigorously promote the construction of a higher level of "bus city" to improve the quality and efficiency of traffic services.

In terms of rail transit capacity exploitation, preparations will be made for the west extension of Line 17 and the opening of Yanyu Road Station on Line 11. Continue to optimize the ground bus service system, form a "backbone line + feeder line" network layout in the central city, continue to promote the quality of bus stops, and expand the coverage of suburban electronic stop boards. In order to improve the quality of slow traffic, Shanghai will open 30 breakpoints in the slow traffic network, create 30 slow traffic Spaces, implement 50 slow traffic facility quality improvement projects, and create 10 slow traffic demonstration areas. At the same time, we will improve the efficiency of parking resources, start construction of 4,500 public parking Spaces, and increase the number of off-peak shared parking Spaces by 1,500. 20 demonstration smart public parking lots (garages) have been built.
